Dad-Worthy Halloween Costume Ideas

A couple weeks back I sent out a request for some pics and stories about Halloween ideas with/for kids. Well, I definitely had to share this one when it came in. It’s so fun and a killer inspiration to help you think of something awesome to be for Halloween.

Nick Fruhling, a graphic designer and fellow apprentice, always brought his creative “stuff” to Halloween full force:

“As for Halloween costumes, my parents were always very encouraging, letting us be just about anything we wanted – I distinctly remember them applying ink to the tires of our Volvo station wagon so that the tread marks across our zombie costumes would be completely authentic. I loved dressing up creatively as a kid, and I never really stopped loving it.

When I had my own kids, though, I thought for sure the dress up days were over; time to move on and be responsible… until the moment I realized kids are the AWESOMEST COSTUME ACCESSORIES!!”

Since then Nick has been dressing up creatively with the kid(s) for halloween. Just checkout some of these killer costume ideas!

Steve Jobs & iPod Shuffle

For his son’s first halloween, they went as Steve Jobs and the new (at the time) iPod Shuffle.

Note: I love how “Steve” Nick is in this pic on the left. I feel like he’s letting it sink in… he’s letting the fact that there’s now over 1 billion million song downloads through iTunes sink in.

Curious George & The Man In The Yellow Hat

Next up was everyone’s favorite pair, Curious George and the Man With The Yellow Hat.

The Cast From Up

When they’re second son came they turned it up to 11, dressing the whole family as the cast from Pixar’s Up. “My wife was even nice enough to play the part of the house (no jokes).”

Get Fired Up!

These ideas are so amazing! I get fired up and inspired to think that I can, after all, make Halloween about me again and use my kid to make my Halloween experience more memorable!

Just kidding. But seriously though, what a killer example of being creative and getting down with your kid into something together. Thanks, Nick, this is truly awesome!

What are you going to do for Halloween this year? I want to know, WE want to know! Let us know. LET US KNOW!

My son is going to be Charlie Brown. I’m not quite sure what my wife and I were going to be. But this post is inspiring me to at least try something fun!

That’s amazing. Amazing. I almost want to adopt a kid now, just for the sake of Halloween costumes.

My kids are always choosing super heroes for Halloween. I always try to go as the secret identity so we can’t be seen together. The wife never goes for it.
