A Father’s Day Desktop Background

I didn’t know what to do for you lads. It’s father’s day, and I wanted to do something, but I didn’t know what to say to commemorate what you do.

So I made you something. Something you can download and take with you. Something you may wish to print or install on your desktop computing device to remind you of the import, weight, brevity, and gift you have and are.

Download The Father’s Day Desktop

Here’s what the desktop looks like (not to scale):

An Alternate Version

I started out with this… It’s a little haunting and a little hopeful. Maybe you like it with the image better. It’s you’re day, pal, you get what you want!

Why These Words?

The words are from an anonymous old quote. I simplified a little from the version I found. I like it a lot because it gets to that whole “my life is rich because I get to hold you even when my wallet’s empty” thing without being too sweet or heavy handed.

It’s a nice, firm hand-shake of a sentiment. It reminds me of my grandpa and the smell of cigars and stories. That’s also why I chose this picture. It seems a little haunting, but the man in the picture is actually showing old pictures he took of his kids in that exact spot.

You, sirs, are doing the work, plying your labor and love day after day. One day we’ll get to relax and all hang out together and be empty nesters… and secretly wish in our hearts that our kids still lived with us.

Sorry, all I could get you was this lousy desktop background.

GOSH, I love this. I’m not a dad, but I know plenty (including the one I’m married to), and I will be passing this around. Thanks!
